Fortnightly Phi Beta Kappa Scholarships

Wishing to support young scholars, in 2005 The Fortnightly Club inaugurated an annual $500 prize for the best research or analytic paper submitted by a University of Redlands student. University faculty supervise the contest, sponsored by the school’s Phi Beta Kappa chapter, and give the Club’s representative two finalists from which he chooses one. The student presents his or her work to the Club in April, using the same format as regular members. Topics have varied widely, from the sociology of cosmetics and the sports science of golf to Euclid’s “Elements” and the American Civil War.
